I recently acquired my uncle's XJ650 Maxim with only 7600 original miles. It has been garaged kept since the the early 80's. The thing looks like it is brand new. My wife wants to ride with me, but only if I promise to get a sissy bar or some kind of back rest for her. I want to get one where she is comfortable riding with me. (We have lots of plans to explore the state parks.) So far not much is available. JC Whitney claimed they can get a sissy bar that is universal, but when I checked into it more, they can get the bars but not the hardware.??? (Makes no sense to me) Why sell one with out the other. I contacted the manufacture, (MC Enterprises) and they only make one for the Yamaha that dates back to 89. What my question is, if I bought one from JC Whitney, how easy is it to modify to fit. Any ideas on how to make your own?
    Thanks in advance.

I'm looking to revert mine back to just the loop. Check out my gallery for the one on my bike. if you have just the loop we could arrange some type of swap? It's in excelent condition besides being a little dusty from being under the tarp. PM me
