    try it, if it doesn't work you can drill it and put a insert in it

    That type of thread reformer works well. The key to the process is grease, getting it started straight, ang going slow. There should be few (if any) chips since a thread reformer has no cutting edge; it pushes the metal back to where it is supposed to be.
