    Ya gotta love people's ingenuity.
In the thread it says to place the parts in warm water to dissolve away the baking soda. Whilst you could use the air gun to clear most of the water how would you then ensure that you had completely removed the water from the carbs, or is it not that important?

The first thing I thougt about when reading the "How to" was this. Water in the carbs = bad from everything I have seen. My basement flooded this spring with about 4 feet of water. I had some broken down carbs that were down there that got wet and I didn't get to them right away. When I did they were covered in oxidation. Also the enrichment wells in the bowls were almost covered over with the oxidation. Also not good on the brass parts as they did close to the same thing. Maybe if you completely dried them right away it may not be so bad. But I would suggest using carb cleaner or something similar to clean them out after the blasting.
Other than that I think it is a great idea. I would just need to get a decent compressor.

any small construction compressor will work with this method as the bodies are small and if the compressor capacity is small pause momentarily and continue. Water NEEDS to be used to wash out the baking soda as it dissolves in the water, followed by carb cleaner blasts and air.
this is a very small cleaning capacity tool. for larger pieces consider a blasting cabinet and maybe farm out the work.

water to flush out the soda is what is intended not a prolonged soaking. that would oxidize the very thing u just did to get em shiny again. Soda dissolves in water a quick dip ( 30 sec) in hot boiling water is all that is necessary, followed by a quick splash with canned cleaner and air blasting to ensure clean passages

Ok update on the progression o this . First it does work, second not very well. sure the blasting is capable but very meticulously monotonously painstakingly PIA. went through a 2 lb box of soda and it did work ok but needs more blasting for a shinny look. Harbor Freight has a cheapo portable soda holoder WITH nozzlr and hose for 22 bucks and says it holds fifty lbs. went and bought it and gonna do that today, progress report later and pics for b4 and after.
Also shooting into a plastic lined garbage can gives u the ability to recover some/most of your soda medium....if ya interested!!

I tried this, but I used a sand blaster gun you can get at harbor freight fairly cheap. I thought it worked far better than what I might have hoped. I think baking soda is a little finer than what is normally used for blast material.

I used this exact setup and it worked like a charm! Only used 1 16oz box of baking soda for my carbs...

The only 'change' I made is to tape a 10" long dowel to the end of the hose that goes in the box. That made it easier to move the hose around in the box and kept it straight. Their hose looks kind of short, I think mine is about 3 feet long. If i recall correctly, the position of the tip of the air gun in the hose will affect the amount of material that gets drawn from the box. Closer to the end of the hose = less material, farther away= more material. Used 90-100lbs air pressure on the compressor.
