As the title says, She's gone. Good bike while I had it. Was intending on staying bikeless for a bit and getting something later.. well wife found a good deal on an '01 GSXR 750.. So we got that.. lol. I miss the Maxim none the less...

Now for the bad part.... Get a call from the new owner... " Hey, it's bleeding oil out of the intake".... Now I question why... then we find out.." I opened the filler cap and it looked low.... so i FILLED it up...." That is when i happily informed them about the sight glass on the bottom right ( They have had bikes previous to the XJ they bought.... so you would think they would know about it.... So yeah.... Told him to drain the oil on a center stand.. leave the plug out and hope nothing else got screwed up. I feel bad for it happening. However, he said that he had owned bikes prior ( quite a few ) and was buying the xj for his wife...

Thanks for the read, and all the support on this site. I will be back and forth here to see how projects are coming.

That makes my stomach twist itself inside out.

Had an 1978 XS400 once. Spent close to a year fixing and restoring it. Sold it and 48 hours later got a call from the new owner asking if he could get his money back. Asked him why and he told me because the XS had been hit by a truck and totaled. :(

The first thing I did was point him to this site.. Wrote it down on the papers we gave him.. Told him Chacal was the parts guru for the XJ and that this site is a wealth of knowledge and experiance.

Thanks Shaun... I started riding an '02 954RR, so familiar with the R bikes more then anything.. ridden a few other odd bikes here and there ( VFR800 and RVF400 ) maxim was first cruiser type, Had fun with it, no real complaints about the bike overall. Just had to go, wasn't shopping for anything really, just found a deal i couldn't pass lol.

that is why I don't like selling bikes to uninformed folks...especially bikes I have grown attached to or have put a lot of time in on....breaks your heart (seriously) doesn't it?
