after i go for a ride and the engin is nice and hot, i turn the bike off and it sounds like there is boiling water in the top of the cylinder case area. im guessing it is just the oil. is this normal?

My bike always talks to me when I ride right into the garage and kill it.

The pipes sound like theres someone inside trying to break out.
If that's what you hear ... pretty normal.

I don't think the oil should boil... what weight are you using? Maybe you should try something thicker.

Though it's probably just the various dissimilar metals in the engine expanding/contracting at different rates against each other.

The engine is going to suffer a catastrophic failure before the Oil boils.
You'd have the engine so hot it would seize.

You don't even want to think about being that Lean.
If you think your Oil is boiling ... use a Racing blend.

Put some Oil in there that can really take a punishment.
    20W/40 -or- 20W/50.

Run it as hard as you want with either of those two in there.

Just to be sure you aren/t doing damage ... Pull the Plugs and line them up
1, 2, 3, & 4 and take a closeup of the business ends and lets see how that bike is running!
