Looking for a decent set of wires (preferably colored) for my 80 xj650 maxim.
After doing a little searching, it seems that chacal is the best bet.
Any thoughts, suggestions or horror stories with anybody/site would be appreciated.

i know chacal has 100% positive feedback on this site, and is very fast to respond and he is a wealth of knowledge on any part you may inquire about.

i believe RickCoMatic did a writeup on rewiring your coils, with pictures. it would be worth a read before attempting so you arent surprised by anything.

Go for wires that have the same OD with an insulated stainless core.
Visit a Auto Junk Yard and grab wires off a Beemer, Audi or VeeDub and you're set to go.

Look at the Old Coil stripped.
Notice how the Coil was molded around the Old Wires.
You have to "Free" the Old Wire and pull it out.

The 2 Points that look like Nails are the HT Contacts.
You have to get the replacement wire connected to that terminal end.

    Use BLACK 5-Minute Epoxy.
Flood the space and seal it after your new wires are securely places.
Add more Epoxy to create a new Coil Case.

Use a SureForm Blade (CheeseGrater) to shape the Epoxy in the moments before it cures.
    Sand.
