I've rode with groups a few times now and I've always asked "why are you guys going so slow?". They always tell me we were doing the speed limit, but I clearly see my speedo registering roughly 10 mph slower than the posted limit.

So is this indicative of a speedo cable problem?
Should I replace it? Lube the existing one?

Any advice is welcome. Thank you.

Your speedomer is in need of cleaning. Search the forum, there are several articles on how to dissamble and clean. While it is apart go ahead and clean and lube the cable and drive gear.
