So I finally got the bike going down the road but I still have to fix the turn signals(LED), the idle, and the speedo doesn't work. it is an aftermarket speedo but im not sure how it supposed to be hooked up because I bought it detached, I see in photos of stock bikes the cable goes to the front left fork behind the caliper and I found the hole but it wont stay cause it doesn't screw in, wrong cable maybe? also I want to buy a digital one and hook it up if this one doesn't work. would this one work? http://www.dimecitycycles.com/black-acewell-2853-digital-speedometer-and-tachometer.html .the turn signals come on and stay on, i read its cause they are led and I need a relay I think it was. last but not least the idle is wayyyyy high, like I can cruise down the road at 30mph in 3rd while idling, when i pull in clutch to stop it starts to wind up, any tips on adjusting the idle, I wasn't sure if it was difficult or not because of it being 4 carbs.

The LED lights don't draw enough amperage to make the flasher pulse, if you run LED lights you may have to add resistors into the circuits.
There is an idle screw behind the carbs that can adjust idle..
Reach behind the carbs with your left hand from the right side of the bike , a small serrated wheel can be turned to adjust the idle, I believe clockwise will bring it higher and counter to reduce idle speed ...

The idle adjust wheel will be behind the float bows between carb 2 and 3

You don't have to add resistors. That defeats the whole purpose of using LED lights; saving amps to use elsewhere.

The info on page 2 will be the most useful for you.

    As for the high idle:

What work have you done to the motorcycle so far?

    Valves on spec?
    Carbs zestfully clean?
    Throttle shaft seals replaced?

Sorry I didn't read too far into that post you tagged moe, I think I have the flashers figured out now. My main concern now is the speedo and my brakes lost pretty much all pressure this afternoon when I tried to get them stiffer, any tips on bleeding brakes? as for the speedo, is it worth it to just go with the electric one or should I try to figure out why the cable isn't working?

The two in the schematic are the two that are known to work.

In the third pic you can make out the stub of the bolt that holds the speedo cable onto the speedo drive. The head has snapped off of yours. If you look a the brake disc bolt that is next to the cable port, and then to the brake disc bolt just below, and then back to the left you will see the stub that I'm talking about. Soak it with PB Blaster or Kroil then have at it with a left-handed drill bit. Be sure to center a punch in the stub so the drill won't wander and mess things up further.

As for your brake question, have you replaced the old lines yet? There's a manufacturing date printed on them. More than 4 years ago? Then they are expired. Stainless lines, along with master cylinder clean / rebuild, will firm up your brake feel! Don't skimp on the safety items.

sorry haven't really been specific. I just rebuilt the caliper and put stainless steel lines on the bike and the master cylinder is a new aftermarket one that came on the bike when i bought it, however it has a weird line of rust in the reservoir. could that be part of the problem?

60 MPH at 2240 RPM. The same ratio is common across all Yamahas of the era.
