I don't know if Yamaha has a gear you could replace??
You could check with your local dealer..... there also might be one of those speedometer calibrating places in your town (there used to be one in Phx that comes to mind) they might have the answer!?

HooNz answer sounds perfectly free! It would work only if the error is linear however, and these things tend not to be. Error rate tends to get greater with increased speed. Contact a speedometer repair/calibration shop, they are out there and will be able to help you get your answer.

Yeah but then you will have to glue a magnet onto your rim and hope it doesn't fall off.

I don't know why but for the last 3 years/5,000 miles I have owned my bike it would read 10% off, this spring I replaced the speedo cable and greased up the drive even though the drive looked fine and the cable worked. Now my speedo reads fine. I don't know if it was the grease and new cable or the 8,000 miles I put on the bike before I realized the speedo was reading fine.

haha, I just realized where you are from. If you see a black Seca going by that is probably me! I go to college at Geneva and have my bike here; I had it here last year as well. Now that I checked your gallery I think I remember seeing your bike last year on one of my runs, (I am on the cross country and track teams). Are you up the road from West Mayfield park?

It must have been a different Maxim that I saw, it was parked in a driveway right near the park and I haven't seen it yet this year.

I don't think I will be able to ride this weekend, I have a cross country race on Saturday and then Sunday I want to take the bike apart and try to fix the stalling problem I have been having.

    Sigma computers are common/popular.

One comment - a friend of mine mounted his to the rear wheel instead of the front wheel which is more common. His reasoning? Didn't have to worry about the bars turning or the fork travel, and it looked tidier. Couldn't argue with that!

Velcro it to the dash or above the key... I thought they were slick and not too too pricey to be out of reason.
