I was riding a few days ago and my speedometer out of nowhere quit working. I figured it was the cable so i ordered a new cable but before it came in i was out riding again and the speedometer started working again. So when i got the new cable in i replaced the old one and it worked fine for 13.2 miles and then quit working again. If its not the cable can the speedometer itself go bad or if there is something else i can do please let me know.

First make sure the wheel tangs are engaged with the gear dogs. On the speedo gear that slips between the forks and the wheel and over the axel there are two slots or dogs that engage two tabs or tangs that are in the wheel outside the wheel bearing. IF those don't engage the speedo will usually not work at all. There is also a nylon gear inside the speedo that the cable slips into. This should be sprayed lightly with cable lube. Usually when it is dry you will hear a whirring or buzzing noise from the speedo.
