Had my 82 650 Maxim out today and within a 5 mile radius I spotted 3 other YICS bikes on the road!

First was a mutant yics bike w a big crazy enduro tank and some other weird mods.

Next was a nice stock looking red SECA 550, parked at a motorbike cafe in town.

The jewel, a near pristine looking Midnight Maxim.

    Good day for a ride!

I think I've seen three XJs (other than mine) this year! Nobody drives vintage around here. If they do, it's really old, like BSA. I see more Urals than old Yammies!

Guy across the street from me has a Royal Enfield in military dress, but its impossible for me to judge how old the thing is. Retro styled, but has a newish looking vin sticker on the frame. He's never around when I am, and I thought it might make peeps in the neighborhood nervous if I start pokin around in their driveways.

Royal Enfield recently announced that they will be opening dealerships in North America, they are starting to re-market their cool looking bikes - might be you neighbor has a newer one.

We have one just around the corner from where I live, I'd love to get a Classic or Bullet 500 for around town.

Bah, niche bikes at best. Lots of style with little substance. For less money I'd be inclined to buy a Cleveland Cyclewerks bike.

We have a royal enfield dealer in town.
At$6k plus there are many bikes I would buy before even considering a Royal Enfield!

I just figured for $6k for a new FI 500cc bike that wasn't what you typically see on the road it wasn't bad. I guess I'd have to go look one over well and test ride before making that decision.

If I had gobs of money I might get one just for the cool look of the army bike model, but way underpowered for 500cc
Speed channel Brits did some mods to a new Bullet and it struggled to make 85 mph

Ouch. I just read up on it a bit online and see what you're saying. My wife's 250 Rebel wouldn't have an issue keeping up and cost a lot less.
