Anyone have experience using a springer front end on an xj? What size is the neck on these bikes?

None, but if you are determined to wreck your handling, go for it. I am sure it will look very cool!

I'm sure Jim was just trying to comically say that the springer front end will not handle as well as a functional stock front end.

For a maxim, I hardly think it would be a huge deal - maybe more of a problem with Seca style bikes.

Right on, sorry. *extends hand for shake*

I'm actually looking at a 2inch under for mine, I'm not a fan of the "raked out" bikes. Unless one falls in my lap for REALLY cheap (read=free), then I might change my mind.

I guess my main concern was if the neck was a standard size amongst all/most bikes.

I have a 82 max650 also, your neck bolt is a 1inch, typical springer front ends like DNA and ect. all use a 1" neck bolt, I'm about to get a 8 over springer for my bike, I'm also going 4 over on back bone and 6 on the down tube of frame, with a 26 to 34 degree rake, should look pretty sick but I'll still have alot of my control of the bike for the mods that going on

I didn't even notice this thread was 2 years old til I got to zookie's post. I had clicked on the Ebay link and wondered why it was an invalid item. Guess there's something to be said for reading the fine print.

I'd love to put a springer on mine.
