image.jpeg looking to remove my two square handle bars so I can strip off what's left of the coating. Not sure how to get them up off the bike. I loosened the one nut shown in the photo and tried to tap up but it won't budge. Is this the only nut holding the bars down? I know there are other pinch points to hold them in position but I just want to see if I can get them off in one piece right now before I break it down further.
    Thanks for any advice.

under the black plastic cap is a pinch bolt
ontop there is an allen head bolt remove them and bars should lift off the mount
under the mount cover is 2 bolts

Thanks that explains the plastic on the top. It's pretty much just a blob and I will need to pick it out to access the allen.

heh yeah, just went through the exact same thing last night tearing down my steering head.

You get the nuts off the bottom, and that loosens the handlebars, but won't release them :) My little plastic nubs on the top bolts just crumbled apart and needed to be picked out with dental picks to be able to get an allen key in... PITA.

I'm *seriously* considering swapping out the bars before I put the bike back together, as I hate those stock square bars. A set of standard risers, daytona touring bars, and no more fugly buckhorns.
