Yesterday out of the blue I heard a rattling and a squeaking sound coming from what sounded like it was coming from the front half of the bike. It starts after moving into third so either higher speed or higher gear. The sound doesn't happen when I throttle up in neutral. Any ideas?

    Check the speedo or tach.
Cable, units, they make a huge sound when failing.

Speedo or speedo drive, wheel bearings, brake pads or claipers, exhaust system. Lots of possibilties. Sounds can be misleading, check things in the back also.

Loose exhaust pipe(s) or collector, or any of the above.
