My brakes squeal every time I use them, front more than the back. I've tried to lightly rough up the pads to remove any glazing. I am also aware of the possibility of a warped rotor.

The pads do not have any shims in use. Is there any material I could use to form some? Has anyone had any luck with any products applied the back side of the pads?

People check out my bike all the time when I approach light/signs. Problem is, I want looks of admiration not annoyed people looking to see what is squealing so loudly!

take the pads off, file, grind a 45 on the leading edge of the pad material, that usually does it.

Mine squeak too... I think my rotors are uneven.
I know I can knock the glaze off the brakes and it stops for a little while.

Polock, you mean a 45degree angle right? To add a bevel to the lead edge. I'll give that a try.

the certainly makes sense. I recall seeing some new pads that are shaped like such with beveled edges.

When we gonna put a few miles on the bikes?

With the wheel up off the ground, does it rotate freely? It is possible that the calliper is starting to seize. The rings in the calliper should cause the piston to retract slightly when the brake is released. Too much drag can cause squeaky brakes.

The biggest question is, are they the original pads and have you rebuilt the caliper(s) yet?

Original pads need to be replaced pronto, and rebuild the caliper(s) while you're at it. The bike is gonna make you do it eventually, might as well do it now.

    No shortcuts on brakes.

Couldn't stop my rear brake from squealing ended up changing the rotor for a new laser cut wave type, squeals gone and brake feels much better. Old rotor was well worn.
