Stainless & Alloy Polishing

    G'day everyone, for those of you that haven't seen my previous posts you may want to look at them if you intend to reply to this post. I am now up to the stage of the restoration of the 900, (Ran out of the folding stuff for parts to do anymore.), involving polishing all the stainless & alloy bits & pieces, man oh man, I feel that I am probably causing myself a lot of work as well as wearing out what remaining finger tips I have.
    I appreciate what some of you may be thinking that its going to hurt both physically & financially to do this resto, but when the cook & I go for our first ride it will be all worth it.
    Some of the allow is slightly pitted & some is painted, i have used paint stipper on the painted surfaces & 800 wet & dry, then attacked it with auto sol metal polish, it has come up extremely well, with the stainless exhaust, collector box & headers they have some minor pitting but also have some minor surface rust. Again i have attacked them with 800 wet & dry & polished them with auto sol & they have also come back to life in a major way.
    Is there a quicker way to achieve both stainless & alloy polishing to remove the initial as I call it gunk off these parts to ease the job of polishing?.
    I have also been using a 5 inch buffing pad on the drill to help, but the poor old drill is burning out faster than the titanic sank. My bench grinder wont adapt a wheel buffer & at the moment my funds wont stretch to allow me to buy a new one. Please any thoughts, help or for that matter critisism would be appreciated as I am trying to get what ever I can done to this project without incurring significant cost.

    some rusty nuts and bolts that just wouldn't stay nice
    these got wire brushed with a drill and sprayed with the metalcast paint, they look more metallic in person
    muratic acid is good for stainless but bad for regular cadmium nuts and bolts
    it works on rusty chrome but there are better ways, just none faster
