I acuired this skeleton of a bike for a measly $200 off a guy who was going to restore/bob it but ran out of time to work on it. Being that I went to school for industrial desing, and currently work in a metal fab shop, I thought I'd take the opportunity to make something unique... so I sliced into the frame and put our laser cutter to work on cutting out stainless for a new tank /seat that I drew up in solid works.

I'll post more info later, just wanted to give you all a sneak peak!

Re: xj750 streetfighter custom fab resurrection

oh yes.. hard tail... honestly im not really sure it fits into any bobber/chopper/fighter/cafe classification... rather a mix of all... my goal is to stray as far from the norm as possable.

the tank will be functional as soon as the flush mount weld in gas cap gets delivered. It's made out of 14gauge stainless, I'll post a bunch of pictures of it's construction later tonight when I get home.

Reminds me of a backwards tractor. Not a bad thing, just sayin'.

I wonder how much interest there would be here for having you fab up larger gas tanks and exhaust collectors out of stainless...

Sounds cool to me. I envision a mixture of a seca tanks sides with larger than maxim gallons that still flows with seat & side covers and works with a windjammer fairing.

I know a stainless pipe dream. LOL

it's always a possibility... collectors seem to rust out a lot so I imagine a good number of people would be interested in a rust free alternative ( hence why I'm making my own exhaust and everything else, out of stainless) Tanks... after having made a compleat one off already... (still need to grind down weld spots and re-grain the Finnish) take way too much effort to be made by hand. and Theres most likely not enough demand for one for me to "convince" my boss to build a program for the robotic welder... lol

    Who knows ...
