I am having starting issues and after reading various posts, so far i have pretty much concluded that 1 of 2 problems are present, either the solenoid is out or the starter needs new brushes. My starter button has broken off and sits next to bike for testing reasons until i get a new one, my question is when i opened the right side switch housing and tested the continuity, from reading my clymer diagram i am assuming the black wire attached to the button is a ground wire, i put the multimeter to the black wire there and the black wire from the -battery post and nothing shows up, i put the lead at the switch on the handlebars and get a reading. does this sound right, i was assuming i should get a reading at the switch ground.

when you press the button it goes to ground.
it goes through the kill switch as well, so make sure there is continuity right through & don't forget all the other fail safes, like side stand & neutral.
