    Hello All,
    I am in need of a starter button for an 81 XJ650LH Midnight Maxim.
    I have heard of a temporary fix using part of a pop rivet. Anyone
    know about this or any other temp fix?
    Thanks,
    Jim

    When my button popped out, I went for some months just starting the bike with a key jammed into the hole -- just have to short the centre contact to the body of the switch housing and that completes the circuit.

    I ended up replacing mine using a small micro-switch that I had handy and was able to make it fit into the housing.

    For stock replacements, you've got 2 options:
    1 - ebay for a new set of right-hand switches;
    2 - replacement buttons like these (also an ebay auction, but available online):
    Ebay Starter/Horn Buttons

    The aluminum replacements look pretty cool - those are what I'd like to get!

    mikesXS has them for like $6. I just bought one because mine was starting to look a little crooked. Then it went shooting away from my bike and that was the last time I saw it.

    Look in the "Links" area.... I think there is a DIY button in there!
