82 Seca XJ650 - performed valve shim replacement this psdt weekend. As part of the process had to roll engine foreard and backward in rotation to replace shims ( used motion pro tool). Now my starter is acting up, selenoid just clicks hard. Battery new and charged.
Did I mess my starter up by rotation engine backwards? Read somewhere that was possible. How do I fix it?

    Thx Jack

So8nds like your battery is not as good as you think it is. Do a voltage-drop test. But--- clean all battery connections just in case....

Fwiw I don't roll the engine backward.... But if you do, just go slow and don't go too far....just enough to release tension on whatever you needed to do that for.
