    Hey guys,

Bike will NOT turn over. Jumped the poles at the solenoid, nothing. Checked for power at the starter, battery voltage is present at the starter terminal with start button pressed (and no voltage when button released). Is this a bad starter as it would appear, or has something major crapped itself in the starter drive? I would think I'd hear something more than complete silence (other than the solenoid click) if the drive was seizing/seized but I'm new to these bikes. Also, I was noticing it was slow to turn over the last couple weeks, like you would expect if the battery was weak which I had assumed was happening.

So if you are measuring the voltage on your battery when you jump the solenoid you still have 12 volts or 0 volts?
If you have 12 volts you need to pull the starter and give it a once over.

If you have o volts you have a bad battery.

It's simple to pull the starter ( 2 bolts, one wire ) take it apart, check the length of the brushes & shoot contact cleaner in there & sloosh out the rubbish. Test it on the bench before you put it back on the bike.

Battery voltage is 12.1 with solenoid jumped, so I guess that's a good battery. I will pull the starter and degunk it and hopefully that gets it going. Thanks guys.
