Hi, I was putting a starter rebuild kit in my starter, when i tested the starter it was turning very slowly. Took it apart, the spring on the ground brush was melted. Must have had a short off the positive. Took the brushes off and put them in the original brush assem.

Problem is I ground the wire for the neg off instead of cutting the wire and soldering in the middle. How do i attach it now?.. What type of solder do i use? can I save this or do i need to by another kit. I have acces to a welder shop and electrical shop at work if I need it. Thanks

You need "rosin-core" solder for electrical work. Typically you use "acid-core" solder for plumbing and non electrical use.
