I just did this last night! There are tons of topics on this... But to get it off there should be 2 bolts on the "alternator"? side that are holding on the starter... (they should be 10mm bolts) and then there's a power wire on the side of the starter... (10mm as well) then you just pull it right out of the side... for the rest of the information do a search on here for starter motor or something. it should tell you the rest that you need to know. But from my memory (very bad memory) I think that they said use carb cleaner? I can't remember though. so you would want to check

The starter is not overly complex. Just remove the wire coming in to it. Once you have it off, then take off the two bolts running down the side.

    Tips:
There are two o-rings. One top, one bottom. Just watch as you slide it apart so you know where they go.
When you reassemble, don't crank down the side bolts tight. Snug them down and make sure the starter is together. Give it a spin with your fingers to make sure you didn't get it too tight.

In general, if you take your time and pay attention to the parts as you pull it apart, you will be fine. There are not too many parts.

Have some molly grease handy as you may want to clean and re-lube the gears.
