    Hello,
So my bike was running fine, but I noticed that the oil level was at the very bottom of the window. I left it on the center stand for a day and let the oil settle and filled it up to the top of the window. I just tried to start it and it sounds horrible now. It sputters and if I give it gas it will only get up to about 2000 rpm. I figured I may have added too much oil, so I drained a little out and now I have the same result. Could adding too much oil cause this? Also, I have decided to drain all the oil out so I can just fill it back up and make sure there is exactly 2.5 liters in there. Can I use regular car oil or do I need special motorcycle oil?

    Thanks,
    Alex

it is best to use oil that is made for motorcycles (wet clutch) any auto parts store should have it. and yes it is bad to over fill the oil..you can blow out seals/gaskets and if it blows past the rings into the chambers it can foul out the plugs.

Is it possible that I blew something out then? I replaced the oil with exactly 2.5 liters of oil and its the same result. It starts and idles fine, but when I give it gas, is struggles and sputters. It will only get to about 2000rpm still.

    Do a Compression Test.
If you do not know the Condition your engine is at the moment ... do a Compression Test.
Buy or rent the too from AutoZone. (I just bought a new Craftsman at Sears)

    Fully Charged Battery.
    Wide Open Throttles
    Spark Plugs removed.
    Ignitor UnPlugged
Test 1 ~ 4 and report back here with the Numbers.

I pulled out the spark plugs and they are pretty black. Is that a good sign that oil got in there? Do I have to rebuild the engine if that is the case?

    Alex:

If we are going to Dial you in ... we need to know how well that engine is going to run.
So, the first thing we need to know is:
    How's the Compression?
It takes about 1 hour to do ... maybe less.
