Steering head bearings

    Has anyone changed their steering head bearings to the tampered roller bearings?

    Yes the set from the board sponsor work really well. Top right hand corner of any page will get you to the parts list and then email for the information. There are a few threads here that you can search for and you will find great step by step directions how to do it.

    Agree with Timbox xj4ever has the bearings , if you do this it is also a good time to rebuild the the front struts since they will need to be removed. The worst part of the job is getting old race out and getting new race in , put the new race in a freezer for about an hour helps get it into frame head stock .

    Does the 91 vintage have ball bearings in the steering head?

    Euro-land XJ600 models are very similar to North American FJ600 models.........and thus, used actual ball bearings from the factory. The XJ600 "Seca II" style bikes (92-up, depending on country) used tapered rollers from the factory.
