Whats up guys! I'm a new rider with a 1982 xj650! it has 22,231 miles on it and its still running strong!

I am having issues with loosing oil.

Why is that everytime I start the bike, oil squirts up through the breather vacuum line off the crank case?

Sounds like you need to curb your enthusiasm Steve and fix your dysfunctional float needles. Open the oil fill hole and see if it smells like gas has mixed in with the oil.

Read this, and follow links for there is much to learn as chances are really good you will NEVER find someone that will fix your bike as well as you can.

And the get yourself dressed up because you will be going to Church.

It may seem like it is all too much but you have a really great bike with low miles. It also most likely hasn't been properly maintained, it is old, it probably isn't safe until you go through it head to tail and spend some $$$.

But trust and believe it is worth it, it is truly worth it all.

Ummmm because it's either got too much oil in it. or you have gas leaking through the carbs and into the crankcase.
No more starting the engine until you have a closer look.
