Sticky odometer Maxim-X

    Went to set the odometer this evening and it didn't work. Tried turning it backwards and the knob/plunger came out. Twisted it clockwise as usual to try again and this time it screwed in and turned but there was a lot of friction and I want to lube the gears before it breaks from the resistance.

    I'm thinking about graphite powder but if there's something better & less likely to get on the numbers I'll use it instead. Graphite would probably work wonders but if it gets on the numbers it'll be a permanent black mark on the record...

    I assume I disassemble it by removing the screw on the back of the chrome enclosure?
