So I dropped my newly purchased XJ750 off for a check over to get registered. Fail - leaking cylinder head. Look slike someone gummed it up with silastic. :(

Plan is to take the head off to check it is all OK, replace the head gasket and hopefully all will be fine.

So I guess it will be a while. :?:

Take the first easy step, and clean off the head area completely to see exactly where the leak is comming from. It is highly possible that the gasket that is leaking is the camshaft cover. The rubber donuts on the bolts are probably worn out, and not applying the needed presure on the rubber gasket to keep it sealed.

When was the last time YOU check the valve clearances?
