An eternity ago, I sanded down and repainted my wife's gas tank and side covers. Part of the project was to change the stock Yamaha badges from gold to chrome to better match her new paint color. After several attempts, I finally found a chrome sticky-back tape that worked well for adhering to the badges.

Well, today, I finally finished the last badge and get 'em all put back on the bike. I took a step back and admired the new look it gave her bike. The chrome really looks much better against the dark emerald green than the stock gold ones. So much so that I went and grabbed the camera for some pictures.

    Check these out:

    Yep, not too shabby!

Sorry, Hon, for taking so long getting this little project done. I hope you like how it looks.

I love that color :) nice job. Where did you find the chrome tape? Can you tell that it is tape or does it look like it can factory like that up close?

Gam' be careful when you pollish the tank, I did my badges the same way & you can catch the corners of the letters, not a lot but enough to p.... you off.

Yeah, Wizard, that is a concern of mine. My wife and I were kicking around ideas on what to do about it. She was thinking of overcoating with a clear. Dunno...

XJDriver, here's a close up of the side badge. These are cut from a 3 inch wide roll of chrome tape made by TrimBrite (#T1818).

You would have to take the badges off again, but 2 pack clear would be the way to go.
