    Hey guys,
I'm going to be putting my swingarm back in tonight and was wondering what the torque setting is on each side. I know I have to preload the bearing. I have read around that the preload should be about 2 ft.lbs. What should the nut be? And the bolt on the left side?

Also, with the preload settings, do I torque down the left side first and then do the preload? thanks,

    Chad

Which bike? It makes a world of difference as to who can even answer you...

If you add your basic bike info to your signature, it saves us having to keep asking...

Oh...I'll be doing this soon also!

    I'm working on an 85 XJ700XN

I was guessing that I'd want to align the back wheel with the front and then pre-load the bearing (by adjust both sides approx the same)
    Then lock down the nut.

I'm sure the experts will steer us in the right direction.
I could always be radical and read the manual....nah > we don't need no stinking directions :)

Nobody can go over this process in more detail than what I can find?

tighten the left side pivot shaft (no lock nut) to 72.3 ft/lbs and set the lock tabs
tighten the right side pivot shaft with the allen key to set preload to 43 to 52 in/lbs, then do the locknut to 72.3 ft/lbs
mark the stud and check that it didn't turn when you set the locknut
