    my taco on my 83 mid max isn't working, it's hard to describe but the needle doesn't rev up like it should. I took it apart and it's a circuit type, not cable driven, couldn't see any corrosion and looks clean. I'm stumped!

    Gets a signal from ignition system check wires and grounds. They do fail occasionally as mine on Seca 650.

    resolder the connection at the coil pack and check the connectors in the harness.
    then look real close at the connections in the tach for cracks you may need to reflow a few solderjoints.

    My tach was slow to respond...took it out of cluster sprayed a little WD40 behind face at base of needle using straw ...put it back in and fixed tach works great now.
