First of all, I like to introduce myself because I'm new on here...

My name is René, from a town near Amsterdam, netherlands. Yesterday I bought my first
XJ750 which I believe is midnight maxim '83. The bike needs Some service, but is accually in pretty good shape! Today I took the exhaust pipes off, because iT needed to be fixxed (big hole).

After a Nice fix, I managed to put the pipes back on the bike again and wanted to hear the difference...

Here's the problem: 'during the testrun The Tachometer works, but doesn't seem to come above 3000 rpm, while I hear the engine run much faster! Around 5000 rpm I guess... When the engine idles, and I give iT a quick rev, the Tacho stays just above 1000 rpm!

How is that possible after it worked fine before I took the pipes off?

Thanks in advance for helping me!
