Tail Light Lens

    Have they ever made a clear tail light lens for a 1982 Maxim 650? Just curious.

    Not that I have seen. Maybe some after market company might have. Chacal my know if someone did that.

    How come it's not legal? A lot of the newer bikes come standard with a clear lens. Interesting.

    Interesting, yes... there's a company here selling a lot of aftermarket clear tail light lenses and they claim that most of them are DOT approved with RED led clusters.

    I wonder how much of a pain it is to get the DOT approval, though. There are an awful lot of lighting accessories out there (turn signals and such) that aren't technically street legal because they're not DOT approved.

    On the other hand, even if they are DOT approved, you might end up fighting with the occasional local legislation that is more restrictive on what's "legal."

    Thanks for the link SQL. I emailed them and at this time they don't make one for my 650. :(
