taking the head off.

i need to take the head off my bike. i dont have a manual and the library copy is currently out. i've take all the nuts off but the head won't budge. it seems to be the cam drive chain or whatever it's called but i don't know how to get that off.

You need a manual. Don't proceed without one, you will just ruin the motor. It's not an "intuitive" process, there is specific info you need.

 

Even those of us who have done Cylinder Head Removals before, don't attempt to remove the Head without a Manual.

My Manual's "Cylinder Head Section" looks like its been endorsed by the International Olympic Committee there are so many coffee cup stains on the pages.

The procedures, ... along with the precision necessary to remove and reinstall the Cylinder Head requires you to follow a set of "Step-by-step" procedures for OFF and Back ON --> Including insuring the TIMING is correct ... that you should not attempt to remove the Head until you have familiarized yourself with the technique and understand how the Timing Chain Removed and Replaced allowing the Head to be lifted-off.

using utorrent software. i was able to download the manual.

 

Also, after you get the cams aligned with the crankshaft, make sure you get ALL the slack out of the chain. There are specific steps to follow for this. If you dont do this, you'll risk bent valves...ask me how I know

 

Since we're waiting for the manual, how about we back up a step?

Why are you pulling the head to begin with? Just asking...
