Hi guys, again it's me... I started this because looking for a problem in my carbs and valves I realized that my TCI unit can go faulty. I read a lot in the last day about this TCI and how it's work. I know that switching TCI's can have an influence in the advance of the engine making run but not as it's expected to run. So, Can any one tell me what model of TCI should be on my 1985 XJ 700N?? This is a pic of what I got now. Someone opened and I'm suspecting that was replaced for any other model... 20160820_140514.jpg

Looking through the ignition section of the parts catalog. It shows the TID14-44 is the correct TCI for your bike.

if you happen to find one for a different bike at a good price it might be a good idea to get it for a spare. i think any of them will run the bike but maybe at lower performance.
that would be better than no bike at all until you can get the right one

Since I had problems with the starter motor I didn't have time to try the bike in a long ride to check how the bike react when the TCI heats up...anyway I don't even know if TCI's heats up...since I cleaned the contacts the bike was reacting 95% better than before when I ride around town at least... Someone know if TCI's heats up??

The TCI won't heat up any more than a transistor radio will, but any temperature increase can cause bad circuit boart traces, or solder joints to lose continuity as the board expands and flexes.

Right. I didn't have the time or will to open it because I want to ride... But I noticed when the bike was running for a time the sputtering between 500 and 2000 rpm's still come back...
