So.. I swapped out the xj550 caliper for an fzr1000 4 pot caliper, the disc is now a floating, drilled Aprillia disc (factory drilled)
I made some spacers and brackets, zestfully cleaned the caliper and replaced the seals, reinstalled with stainless lines and bled the system.

    But
Maybe i dunno what im talking about, but it feels a lil spongy.

How can i test my brakeability without riding the bike?
(Cos its all hills near my place)

Bad pic of the brakes, but you get the idea. Also, bike is much more complete now.

If the pads are new expect some spongyness till they are fully broke in. I do mean some you shouldn't be able to fully seat the Brake lever on the grips. Some minor squish though is expected

    Cheers Brotha,
Yeh I was fully seating the brake lever on the rips as you describe
Sometimes you just have to hear what you already know.
I re-bled the brakes and the last tiny few bubbles escaped.
    Made all the difference.
Now I'm confident that the brakes will work
    :)

I bled my brakes again and again last year and still they seemed to never be 100%

    bled them again this spring....PERFECT!!!

lesson learned, bleed and bleed until your bleeder is sore, then bleed a little more...

then if you feel comfortable enough go for a small spin. you can tell by rolling it around by hand if you have some stopping power, then worst case you downshift to keep your speed under control

Did you open the "banjo bolt" at the top - - using this as an air vent ??

Because the last little air bubbles migrate up.

And why not 2 rotors ?? You coulda had VEYRON brakes !!
