Hello. I am building up a rat bike from the spare engine and frame I have sitting around and am having the worst luck finding a rear brake drum. Ive bought 2 off ebay and either one fit 550 (too big). So, frustrated, I have given up on ebay and figured Id try the xj boys. Does anyone have a rear brake drum off a real xj550. OH, and by the way, for anyone reading this, I have a great condition rear brake drum w/newer good pads for a 650 or 750 that Ill let go of cheap if anyone is in need. Thanx

Seems as if someone is always parting out an old Yamaha, don't forget c.l. I've found some oddball things posting under item wanted.

I have a complete set of wheels, front and rear, for a Seca 550. I will separate them if you only need the rear.

The drum is part of the wheel; it sounds like you're looking for a rear brake backing plate.

The XJ550 (Maxim) is larger than the XJ550R (Seca.) The 550 Seca is the same as the XS400 Seca/Max series of twins.

What rear brake plate you use depends on what wheel you're using. I take it you're planning to use the straight-spoked 18" rear from a 550 Seca?
