Think I should get it?

Hi guys, I am considering picking this up for a project (if I did I would have to sell my 550 to fund it). Do you think I should do it? (probably talk him down though...)

The only thing I am thinking I will have a problem with is the no title. Even if I could find it, I had a hard enough time insuring a 81, never mind a 76. Would it be possible to get a custom title/builder title and say it is a 95, and all the parts are mix matched?

    Thanks for you help, Anthony.

Well.... it is an AMF era Harley, not the most desired or reliable bikes out there. For $800 I would want to be sure everything is there and workable. Being apart would make it easier to fix the more doable issues, oil leakage, upgrading bearings and such. The bottom line to me would be could I rebuild and get this running for less than the cost of a decent mid 80s to early 90s Sportster. Around here, the 883 and 1200 sportsters are running about $2800 for a well used but functional and running bike. I don't know if you could get this one back on the road for that much. The title issue is not a problem, you could get a replacement title. The insurance on a Harley would be more than on your '81 de to t being more likely to be stolen. I would pass on this one. cruzerjd

I'd avoid this one too, no title and unknown missing parts + build-up = more than finished bike is worth. Get a known runner or complete bike for the money. Cruzer is right on.

I'd pass to, my buddies got one, finally found an engine for it, had to spend $2000 on engine but it's in and runs, leaks oil like a sive but what do you expect it's a harley
