Had this bike for seven years now and thinking of turning it into a soft tail bobber. The reason for the soft tail is that I want to keep the air box and not go the pods route. One question i have is was wondering if I can refab the rear shock mounts to lower it a inch or two or just get shorter shocks?

my wife never rides with me or my girlfriend for that matter and I've never been a big fan of the King / Queen seat. Plus with being a short a$$ at a grandiose 5'6 I could use the extra leg room that a smaller seat pan will offer.

Welcome aboard! That's a good lookin' scoot you got there. Some of the guys on here might try to talk you out of hacking up such a fine specimen.. I'm not one of them.

Check out my bike build link in my signature. I got a set of stock shocks from a Suzuki Savage 650 (they're 10.5" eye-to-eye). They lowered the bike a couple inches and a pretty much a direct bolt-on. I love 'em. Way easier than moving shock mounts. It's been said that these are rated for a significantly lighter bike so that's something to consider but I weigh about 275 and haven't bottomed out or had any issues as of yet. You might be able to score some from ebay. Otherwise, I scored some from a forum member on suzukisavage.com. If you want to fork out the extra dough you can get some nice new progressive shocks that are shorter than factory but with a higher spring rate.

Looking forward to seeing your progress man!

+1 teddy....that is a good one!! I personally like changing the looks of cycles, gives its own character and reflects personality/imagination of owner/builder.

Have you thought maybe selling this one for decent $ then holding on to that $ finding a not so "hot" looking one that motor turns, not locked up and complete? I bought one for $200 with title, found another one for $200 took parts from it and sold rest ( rolling chassis ) for $90.

Now my project is about done besides rejetting and tuning. I cut, welded and painted ( good ole rattle can) all for $500 +/- as of now. It's my girls first 2 wheeler.

But hey if you want to cut it up, I'm all for it but think you can come out ahead starting a (barn queen) lol...your bike, do what you will to it and have fun doing it!!!
