This doesn't look too stupid, does it?

So I finally had a nice enough day to go out and relocate the rear blinkers and put my new mirrors on.

This first shot is before I got started with the stock, square mirrors and the rear blinkers in the stock location.

I knew I had a small bike, but this really seems to accentuate that fact to me. What do you guys think?

It looks fine to me. If anything, I'd scoot the tank bag down a bit more towards the seat, but other than that it looks good. How much were the saddle & tank bags? And where did you get 'em?

Those signal lights in the rear seem to stick out way too far and make it look like your coming in for a landing. I'd swap them for a pair of smaller ones that don't stick out quite so far (just my opinion)
I know the stock signal lights are probably safer and get drivers attention, so I guess it's a toss up.

I think it looks great. Very professional and dedicated to touring look.
I agree that the tank bac ought to come back a few inches.

I don;t know if it bothers your steering up that far.
Nice, all together and professionally appointed.
    Very, very nice.

I have to agree the bike looks great. Well done.

Don't know if it's the camera angle but PainterD is right the rear turns look like they stick out quite a ways. Shorter ones would change the look.

Nice 400 Maxim. Don't see a lot of those.

    Looks fine and functional.

I used the same material for my brackets and painted the parts black.

I had to do that to my 98 VMax so I could use my RKA soft bags. RKA also sells nice chrome "turn signal relocation to the license plate" kits. I got the kit, but I had already relocated my turn signals just like you did.

Maybe, one day, I'll get around to installing the chrome brackets. Maybe not, because mine work fine like they are.

i know that my rear indicators are covered by my saddlebags, but my rear brake/tail light is one of the led ones with the integrated signals, so it doesnt bother me much that they get covered.(the PO put on little tiny led indicators and the only stick out like 2 inches from the fender.

i have a xs400j too wraith , i was thinking of getting a tank bag but now after seeing how huge it looks i changed my mind. not because it looks stupid but because its to big for the profile. I was also thinking saddle bags but I was thinking hard bags. I also grabbed me a windshield off of ebay . a slipstreamer ss-28 for 40 dollars new . Its looks and functions like it should, great

I have been looking for the upper right side cover for the battery but I haven't had any luck. so just for schitts n giggles I started to make my own made a template out of cardboard for the rough fit. going to use fiberglass for the body.

I think it looks great for everyday riding I would keep the tank bag in the garage and only use it when you need it. You can fit alot in the saddlebags for everyday use. I did the same with my signals just made brackets off my plate mount. My saddlebags are huge tho and the blinkers don't stick out past them.

Joe Rocket acually makes a pretty nice magnetic tank bag that is much smaller that I used on my 650 maxim. It ran me like $40+ three years back. It's not in the way at all and very functional.

Doesn't make the bike look small at all, IMO.

    Looks cool.
