    URAL in the mud

We can't let the Russkies beat us in technology !!

I wonder if there's much torque reaction to the steering, or would it be neutral ?

A couple of Ural models come with a manually selectable sidecar wheel drive from the factory.

This guy made the front wheel drive himself. He used Ural final drive parts, preserving interchangeability and the looks. At leas that's what his comments say.

Given that you didn't make your ATVs and he did make that motorcycle that is somewhat less impressive.

I noticed that too. Back in the 60's & 70's there was a 2 wheel drive 250cc 2 wheeler bike(can't remember who made it) that had a u-joint up by the neck that transferred to a sprocket and chain to a sprocket on the front wheel with no loss of steering.

    That's it Polock.
Since that guy with the Ural put the u-joint down by the wheel, he lost a lot of travel. If he had run it up close to the neck like the Rokon, he would have more turning room.

Right. But he wouldn't be able to use all the Ural parts for that. :D

Has anyone looked at the prices for new Ural's recently?

They did upgrade the frontends on some models, but I think they want more than they are worth.

They upgraded quite a bit over the years. Keihin carbs, Brembo brakes, Bosch electrical components. Western suppliers charge Western prices.

And yeah, I think even as unique as they are today, they are overpriced. 15 years ago or so they were $5K for a single and $7K for a sidecar rig.

Yeah they have steadily gone up the last 2-3 years. They have made good changes, only problem is it's still a old design motor wise. I think I'd rather have an XJ with a sidecar. Hmmmmm!
