Got a new throttle cable, routed it like the old one, I thought. It will rev up when I turn handlebars all the way to the right. I have a manual, but it is hard to determine the correct path. 85 xj700 maxim. Thanks

did you measure it up against the old cable? some after market ones are shorter to fit more bikes.

original THROTTLE CABLE, with curved metal tube, adjuster nut, and thumb-wheel on the throttle end of the cable, for all XJ700 non-X models. Wire length = 39-1/2".

Aftermarket THROTTLE CABLE, with curved metal tube, adjuster nut, and thumb-wheel on the throttle end of the cable, for all XJ700 non-X models. Wire length = 39-1/2".

Sounds like you wrapped the cable around the head tube rather than staying on the right-hand side of the headtube

The cable came from Len, I'm sure it's the correct one. I'll check routing around headtube. High 60s here today and sunny! Thanks for the help!
