after a recent reassemble, there's a loud squeak and a fair amount of resistance when i pull back on the throttle.

i tried lifting opening the throttle "by hand" by pushing up from beneath one of the sync screws on the carbs to open the butterflies, and it's easy and quiet there.

i'm thinking i might need a throttle cable replacement. thoughts?

Did you hook it to the choke cable? Lube the cable (all the way up under the grip)?

No. I didn't remove or reattach the existing choke cable and throttle cable, the reassemble was all carb-based.

I suppose I should try pulling the grip off and lubing everywhere, but I figured if I was doing that, I might as well replace the cable entirely.

I meant did you connect the throttle cable to the enrichment rail.

I had a sticky throttle cable, and when I lubed the entire cable, and took apart the grip and lubed it there too...it worked great!
