It's 1973 and an editor at Road & Track Magazine - Richard Foster - writes a story about the future of motoring in the USA ~circa~ 1982.

The new cars are so safe that people don't care how they drive.
This not only brings to mind careless cell phone users in SUV's, but the drivers who actually HATE motorcyclists who are out there having fun.

This article inspired Neal Peart of RUSH to write "Red Barchetta".

Enjoy !! (and they just widened my one-lane-bridge)

Sounds about like what I go thru driving my VW Wabbit amongst trucks and texting SUV drivers; it's nearly as invisible as my bike seems to be.

(I parked MY '72 MGB because too many expensive things broke all at once. Bought a '67 Chevy for $200 and it ran just fine through the winter.)

Red barchetta IS my favorite Rush song (of course you. I always end up realizing I'm going way over the speed limit by the end of that song. Didn't know that about the inspiration. Thanks for the history.

It's the dead of Winter in the middle of the Green Swamp, 25 miles S/W of Disney.
