Well, after alot of hard work and finally getting everything vacuumed synced, valve shims correct, carbs cleaned, Electronic Tach wired in....... THE CHAIN GUIDE has jammed up my tranny
Im not one to half ass it and just pull the pieces so ive already started to prepare to pull the engine..... MY QUESTION,
Before i start searching Ebay and Craigslist, Anyone have a 750 NON YICS engine for sale?

It will be going in an 81 XJ650 frame.... Thanks in advance

    I did no such thing ! . . .

You could fish the pieces out and keep riding for a while, until you get your replacement motor organized,

All 750 motors are YICS, which is pretty irrelevant.
The Maxim will give you taller gearing than the Seca motor.
You will need to re-jet the carbs, or use the 750 carbs.
There's a few other minor details, covered in Chacal's info.

Good luck - use a compression gauge while shopping for a motor.

I thought Maxims were geared lower, for "Boulevard" work, and Secas had the taller gearing for on the highway.

As-is, I thought they were about equal, however, cko724 is building a Maxim 650 with a 16 inch rim and if he uses a Seca motor, that's supposed to have an 18' rim it will be geared too low (by about 8%).
