Anyone know the process for adjusting the timing chain on a '84 xs400 maxim? The service manual I have mentions nothing about how to check or adjust it. I have the valve cover off changing out shims so I figure i'de check the chain and I can pull up on the chain and get what I think a fair bit of slack on the top runner.

Pretty sure it had an automatic cam chain tensioner.
