2 1/2 seasons on a pair of Dunlop D404's (didn't track milage - doh!).
Rear is down to the wear markers, front still has .11" tread depth.

Dunlop's website says that to change tires when the wear marker is contacted and they call out 1/32". I am measuring the depth at .06" almost twice that depth.

Will replace the tire very soon . . . Probably stick with the D404.

Is it normal to have the rear wear that much quicker than the front?
Is 2 - 3 seasons 'normal' life for tires?

P.S. valve clearances are in spec!

That sounds about right, especially if your valves are in spec. Mine were, last time I checked, and I'm due for a new rear tire this month.

D404's are the best damn tires ever. I got 8-thou out of mine. Probably could have gotten more...

I usually go through two rears for each front on the Yamahas, and 3 rears per front on the Norton.

I got around 10K ~11K out of the D404 on the rear of my '81; but it's a 550 and therefore 100lb. lighter.

Is that engine valves or tire valves?

Could be heart valves. I check those every time I get on the interstate.
