Time to do the tires on my bike,I love the tires that were on there when I bought the bike from last owner but after seeing the price on the exact replacments im going to open up and hear what other people say. It has raised white letter dunlop qualifiers. I know metzelers are a real hit. I am looking much more for best bang for my buck. I am NOT at all looking for the best performance or longest lasting in the world, again bang 4 buck!!

I use the Shinko 712s. Good tire, good value for money. The only thing I don't like is the stupid rain groove on the front tire, but I don't ride the expressways so it doesn't bother the handle.

I prefer tires that have date code under 4 years, plenty of tread, and properly inflated. :) and oh yea, are round.

Still running a Dunlop 404 on the rear, but I put a Bridgestone Battleax BT45 on the front, it used to be a Dunlop Spitfire sII. Night and day difference. Very grippy, really smooth, does well on wet roads. Still evaluating milage. And I'm going to put the other BT45 on the rear over the summer.

I've been a Dunlop kinda guy for most of my 45-year street riding career, and still am. I have K81's on the Nort and D404's on my '81.

But I do love the Avons I have on my '83. They're just not as practical is all.

I may try a set of BT45s the next time either bike needs both tires.

I have the D404's on both my XJ's and am more than happy with them.

Decided to go with a pirelli MT66 130-90-16, my qualifiers were 140s and I got some chain rub for sure! 125 bucks out the door mounted!

I too like the Kenda Challengers. attributes hardly matter since where I live has all speedlimits "nowhere" near fast. Fastest is 55 and that is 15 miles away. I therefore look for the best price I can get.

If I have to get just CHEAP, I go with the Kenda Challengers. If I can get what I really LIKE, then I get the Dunlop D404's.
