Spend the extra 10 bucks and get a battery tender.
You don't want to leave the trickle charger, on, connected all winter.
This way you don't have to keep hooking and unhooking it.

I'm finding a lot of things you can get from Sears for about the same price as Harbor and the quality is WAAY better. (Admittedly not always the case but I ended up getting my "tender" at Sears.)

I got my battery tender at Walmart for $17.97. It is a Schumacher which is an established and trusted name. I have used their chargers for years and highly recommend them. The hound's advise to get the tender instead of the charger should be taken quite seriously. Especially with winter coming on and the bike's inevitable lack of use in the cold.

I have never had a tender but the harbor freight trickle charger is the best I have ever had. I have a sears 50/10/2 charger that I only use to put a quick charge on the battery then I throw on the HF charger and deep charge them. I do not have the box any more but I think they were a float type charger. I have charged batteries both car and bike but the HF charger has always done a much better job than my Big sears charger. I used to have 5 or 6 but all my friends were impressed and borrowed a few. I am down to one now.

For example my friend had a tender jr. and could not get his bike to start off the battery. He brought it over and I charged it with the HF and it started right up and did so for a few days in a row.

I did see a tender jr on sale at sears not that long ago for a really cheap and I almost bought it. I just wait till HF runs a sale and get their chargers for next to nothing.

Bought a few of the Harbor Freight Float Chargers when I had the JetSki's. I picked up a few more when they were on sale for $4.95 for the bikes as I let the others go with the ski's. They work well and haven't had a battery problem yet.
