I am bobbing a 1985 XJ700 Maxim X. It will turn over here and there, but will not stay running. I think it may be a carb float, but not sure. When I put it on prime gas runs out a hose that is coming from between the 3rd and 4th carb. Any ideas or suggestions would be very helpful.

I am also thinking about buying another tank for this bike. What type of tank would yall suggest?

That hose is an overflow for the carbs. The float is off/stuck in either 3 or 4 or both. DON'T run it until you find out. It will flood the crankcase with gas. And that, my friend, ain't good.

I cringe every time someone says they are bobbing a bike. Especially a limited run bike the XJ700. Why do people insist on taking an otherwise good looking bike and tearing it up?

Think real hard before you go hacking at that thing. There are very few of them left.

I have a buddy here that wants to do that. I was selling my 750 in great shape, he said if he buys it it's getting chopped up. I cried a little inside.
